"Golliwogg's
Cake-Walk"
"Golliwogg's Cake-Walk" is probably the most famous piece
from "Children's Corner" - a suite for solo piano by Claude Debussy
(1862-1918), completed in 1908. It is dedicated to Debussy's daughter
Emma-Claude - known as "Chou-Chou" - who was three years old at the time. When
Children's Corner was first published by Durand it originally featured Claude
Debussy's own drawing of Florence Upton's Golliwogg, which is reproduced on
this piece.
