The story, told in rhyme and beautifully illustrated, follows the the adventures of Golliwogg as he embarks on a Robinson Crusoe type of adventure - being washed ashore on a desert island, accompanied by dog Robo, meeting Friday (a black gentleman), running into black natives on the island, and being rescued by the Dutch penny dolls).
